Writer's Block: Take my advice

What's the best and worst advice you ever received? Did you follow it even if it ran counter to your gut intuition? How did it turn out?
"Take long walks, that'll straighten it out. Try exercise." Every single time I have stupidly gone along with that one I have wound up with major sports injuries and throwing my back, knee, hip due to real disabilities. It may be fine for most people, for me it means months of bedrest recovering. BAD IDEA!

Worst advice I didn't follow: "Just do what the doctor says, the doctor knows best." BS! I listen carefully to everything any doctor says and usually give them apoplexy when I start listing off the reasons that it would kill me. Or worse. Love the look on their face when the penicillin pushers realize I'm deathly allergic and they had only said "it's an antibiotic, it'll make you better." NOT!

Best advice: get a second opinion from a specialist. Only no one would ever say THAT to me. That's just a general aphorism they say to other people.
