Do you believe there is other intelligent life in distant galaxies? If no, why not? If yes, do you believe this is something to be feared and avoided or actively sought out?
Yes, I think there's life on other worlds and probably intelligent life on some of them. Space is huge. Getting there, or their getting to us, is logistically near-impossible and so it's very unlikely that they'll show up or we'll get there while they're alive. If they've conquered that scale of distance, then what happens is pretty much up to them because they'd have unthinkably great technological advantages... unless they're just a few explorers in a self sustaining generation ship and don't need anything from us, in which case it could be interesting.

The point of the unknown is that it is unknown! I speculate all the time as an SF writer, but they're fables for human beings. I think SETI is cool though, because if they did send messages in light thousands of years ago, it'd be cool to find and try to understand them. Likewise the Voyager record and other efforts. Why not spit in the dark?
