Crimson Clover

Crimson Clover
4" x 5"
Derwent watercolour pencils and Pigma Micron pen size 01
Moleskine watercolor journal.

From life. Kitten took me out for a ride this afternoon to see the crimson clover during its short blooming season. It was worth the pain -- I did throw my back and I'm sitting here crooked and spasming, but I got to see what she was talking about last year. They're incredible. Some areas they look like a field of tulips instead of clover, gorgeous plants. And weird because the leaves do not come off on branched stems like normal clover but come off leaf buds on the central stalk! So I made sure to include that in the botanical drawing.
