They didn't show in the photo reference so I'd guess they got clipped? I can see why someone owning a rooster might clip them if he's not going to be a fighting rooster but a pet.

maybe they're not grown in, yet.
they say you can twist the nails off-at night in their sleep,
but even with out spurs they're sneaky buggars.

Could be that. I was following a reference and to be honest, never met a real rooster up close and personal. lol

what kind of imaging device
do you take pictures of your pictures with ?

I use a Kodak multifunction printer scanner. I like it better than the HP one I had in Arkansas. Then I sometimes play with the scans in Gimp to improve them and get closer to the true look of the painting.

i used ot use to scanners to photograph jewelry
lasy stuff on it to collage
handy things they are!

Very handy! I used to like the scanner a lot more than my camera, now I use my camera too for some things. Mostly for three dimensional objects and photos of my cat. I can't exactly get a good shot laying him on the scanner bed. That'd be cute once (fuzzy tummy shot) but getting him to stay there during the scan would be tough!
