Steel Guardian update...

I've just spent five hours editing, solid. The first chapter is clean. I tightened that opening scene well, threw out about half the words by the time I was done. Then on into the parts Kitten critiqued and used all of her changes, came up with about as many of my own tweaks and edits. Then I went on doing line edits and anything I saw in the following chapters, especially checking name spelling and continuity and removing references to The Emerald Sword, balancing mentions of his task as The Steel Guardian and who he is, Emerald the sword.

I got to chapter 6 doing that after putting the now-clean Chapter 1 into a file that will eventually have all of the chapters reformatted to Times New Roman with indents rather than spaces between the paragraphs, actual italics where there are marked italics, and formatted single spaced -- the version before it goes to PDF is the final. It's easier for me to work on screen in single spacing. It's easier for her to mark up on paper double spaced.

So the edits proceed apace. I'll continue working on it later, right now I just ate and need a rest, came up out of it to take a needed pain pill and realize that I did get a lot done. The results are cumulatively a vast improvement! So far I have agreed with every suggestion Kitten makes, seeing it as soon as I look at it.

Thanks! I just got up after a nap -- went about six hours total and then napped, and I'm ready to get into it again. Knowing you enjoy these updates really cheers me on while working on the edits. That's always been harder for me than writing the rough drafts.
