Day One: 28,398

I made a good start on the prequel to The Steel Guardian, working title Arkatyr. I'm about to get to the dragons!

I wanted to get in 25,000 on the first day and went past it, guesstimating I wanted 25,000 a day to reach 75,000 total. It's a good feeling to get a little past it since I sometimes slow down more toward the end of the book when I get tired.

I've been tempted to try the Three-Day Novel before. I was considering it this year, but getting the time off work to do it would have been annoying. I have two of the days off, but not the third, and in a time-crunch like that, the extra day would make all the difference. don't think I can write 75k words across two days even if I neglected to sleep at all!

Good luck!

Aw, that's too bad. Maybe next year you can arrange to get the holiday and the full three days. I'll be trying to do an official one. Please come into SFFmuse chat and hang with other Three Day Novelists for support, if you like chatting. Kayara and Alcar are doing it too.

I'm not sure if I could do 75,000 in one day. But on my first one I was happy to get 37,500 in three though it technically wasn't a novel by the SFWA definition. I built up to this speed over years of annually doing it and switching to the Dvorak keyboard layout, so I'm typing faster.

I do sleep during it though.
