An ACEO in Pastels

ACEO "Dawn" (Swedish Dawn) is done with Mont Marte Soft Pastels, though I did the signature with a Cretacolor pastel pencil when I had trouble keeping the edges clean. The little ducks are put in just with a corner or two of the black stick. It was challenging doing this one! I used a dark blue Canson Mi-Tientes ACEO blank, and one of the hardest parts was just finding a way to hold it while working on the lowest part. I had to do a lot of sprucing up after I finished to pick up smudged little 1/8" curves from thumb edge, though I tried to hold it in areas of pure color so the fixes would be smooth and that worked.

I really like how it came out. I'm enjoying doing clouds in pastels, and may start doing more "weather" related pastels or even some pastels animals too. Lauren, if you like these, let me know and I'll do a similar one for your package.
