ACEO Clouds Pines Dawn is my response to a weekly sketch thread. This week's topic was "clouds and/or trees" and I wanted practice with both. The concept of sketch means "try to do one in an hour or less." I pushed it, had to stop ON the hour with this, but it was finished.

I used ofinsea's wonderful Fissure and Spire photo reference for the clouds, but departed from it quite a lot as the cloud formations moved and changed. I must have put a dozen layers or more on the clouds, velour board lets me do that. Sand colored Hahnemuhle velour board with Mont Marte soft pastels and one slightly muted green Cretacolor pastel pencil for the signature and a couple of details in the trees. I am still so wiped out from the Friday cleanup that this is ludicrous. It's been a long time since overexertion dropped me for three days, but that's what it is so far. I can't wait till I feel better. But the super cleanup does mean I can do pastel ACEOs without fussing or hunting all over the place for stuff!

We had a sky full of clouds you would have loved today but I couldn't get to anywhere where the view was relatively clear to take a picture for you :(

Thank you for thinking of me! I love clouds, and don't go outside nearly enough when it gets cloudy to try to shoot my own references.

One of these Kansas thunderstorms, I'll go up in the cold room by the window and try to snap the storm as it's going on...
