Semi-Daily Art

Bottle, Quartz, Aquamarine 1 is a study for a still life involving these three objects. After I took some good photos for the big pastels one, possibly the third assignment for Still Life the Colourful Way if Charlie likes those photos, I put the other stuff back up on the top of my CDRW with the camera and these three fell into that arrangement.

I decided to do a study just to get the feel of the three objects and like how it came out. Caran d'Ache Neopastel on white ProArt sketchbook paper. The tangerine quartz has a rosy-orangy peach color, light but not clear, a little stronger than most rose quartz and more orange than pink. The aquamarine is a bit paler than I've done it but the study has heightened color and isn't intended as realism.

It may be quite different in soft pastels. I might do more than one study before tackling it.

Today I might also start on the "coloured bottles" reference provided for the fifth assignment. This week I wanted to get photos for the last assignment and do the fifth assignment, completing everything in that wonderful class. Bullies, posted yesterday, is growing on me in its temporary frame and black mat on the wall.
