Watercolor Cat (This Is Not Gemini)

A Little Busy
4" x 6"
Sakura Koi 12 color watercolor pocket set with waterbrush and 12/0 miniature liner brush on Canson Montval cold press watercolor block.

Painted from a photo reference in the April 24 Weekend Drawing Event posted by dupliKate of her cat, Busy. Busy has the same coloring as Gemini but different patterns, like all torties do.

I've been scared for several days that I was going to drop offline and be out of things for months saving up for a replacement laptop. Mine has been heat crashing horribly for three days, sometimes at closer intervals. Bad bad thing.

Today thanks to a Tiger Direct 72 hour sale email, I found a replacement I could afford just on my May check and Kitten gave me a paycheck loan for a week to get it. It's another Acer refurb! I love how this one stood up, it's been good for three years of brutally heavy use, so I trust Acer now. It's a Sapphire Blue Acer Aspire netbook with a gig of RAM and 120 gig hard drive -- same specs as my current $800 at the time laptop, especially since this one no longer has a CDRW so I bought an external last year that works fine. It has XP Home instead of Vista, so I don't have to get used to Vista yet.

I'm boggled by that great luck and laughing over the constantly dropping price of electronic hardware. For years I've been thrilled and tempted by the ultra light extra small laptops, knowing my short fingers function well on smallish keyboards, testing them in stores. Looking at the price tags and shaking my head, they cost more for years.

Now the one that comes in under exactly what I could afford turns out to be that ultralight I always wanted at no loss of speed or power from what I have. It only weighs 2.3 pounds. This one may actually go with me to a Wrimo Write-In this year. I'd be able to carry it to the coffeehouse easily enough for that. It would even fit in my Sahara Chair if I type outside.

So this is just too cool and disaster got averted into delight. Also even if I vanish it'd only be for three to seven days. Seriously not a problem.

Purr thanks! I saw the reference and couldn't resist. Busy is such a pretty little lady, reminds me of Gemini. She has the same head shape as Gemini but different face markings.

Gemini let me hug her tonight. She was walking over me to get from the armchair to the food bowl -- I am in the cat path for that so I pet whoever's going "food to armchair" or "armchair to food" along the way. On impulse I grabbed her and hugged her. She let me do it and even purred a little.

She's getting a teeny bit plump though. She may even be all of a pound overweight, but it's so cute on her, little round tummy sticking out.
