Daily Art -- Underpainting for Cat ACEO

This one's a two-stage colored pencils ACEO. I did the underpainting from the "damp kitten" photo reference in the Colored Pencils Challenge on WetCanvas.com and scanned it, tomorrow or later tonight I'll go at it with Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils and start developing it in a lot more detail. I haven't done certain details in the painting like the pupils of his eyes because I know I'm going in with colored pencils to do a full burnished colored pencil painting. This is just to get the right colors under various areas before I start going in with the pencils.

The petunias are from my Artist's Photo Reference: Flowers book, still available from North Light Books or Amazon. I always liked their color but had no idea when I'd have a call to use them... but when I saw the damp kitten outside I thought it'd be utterly plausible to put the little cat in someone's garden contemplating a) mischief or b) getting let inside, and undecided about which!

I also got two boxes of books packed today and labeled. Packing has begun! I need a lot more boxes though, I can see that just from how fast those two filled up.

Love the painting - the cat and the flower blend...it's really nice.

Thanks! Tomorrow I'll post it again with the colored pencils work I'm going to do on it -- leaving it out so that I do finish it instead of putting it off. He's a cute kitten, I love the photo but the texture of his damp fluffed up fur should be a lot more prominent once I've gone in with the colored pencils.
