Chrysanthemum
6" x 9"
Prismacolor Art Stix
Strathmore 80lb "Gray Scale" pad drawing paper, which has a strong woven texture like the rough side of Canson Mi-Tientes.

Sketched from a reference in Artist's Photo Reference: Flowers by Gary Greene. I saw a friend on WetCanvas.com do a couple of florals on black paper, they came out gorgeous and so instead of winding down to get some sleep, I got out the other half of the paper I used for the metallic iris and grabbed the first set of colored pencils that was handy. It turned out to be the adjunct case of Prismacolors that has the Verithins and Art Stix in the back.

I like how it came out, very impressionist. I think working with pastels and oil pastels so much has left me loosening up when I get stick-shaped mediums in hand, I wound up doing it all loose and had funr with it. Deliberately left a little black showing in the depths between petals and the flecks of paper showing because of the texture.
