Monochrome Blue Rose 4" x 6"
Winsor & Newton Artists' Watercolour, French Ultramarine
Lanaquarelle cold press (Not surface) watercolor paper.

This started out as my second botched Flat Wash from the Watercolour Secrets DVD course that I'm going through. I have just run full tilt into one of the several major things I mean to learn from this class -- flat washes have never ever turned out flat for me. Ever. I tried for it three times today and the third one's almost decent. This one was striped and blotchy before I put the rose in and it shades slightly darker to the left than the right -- which doesn't matter in the nice painting I recycled it into.

I also sketched the Statue of Liberty from one of the drawing exercises in DVD 2, "Drawing."

Liberty Sketch
Graphite pencils on paper, about 4" tall total.

I could've copied this sketch onto watercolor paper and painted it, but he didn't really do it as a step by step and I wasn't interested in doing a postcard for NYC anyway. But if I ever need a decent sketch of it, now I've got one in a sketchbook. I'll paint it if I ever go on vacation there and wind up with a good view of it though.
