Another Swamp Scene ATC

Everglades 3
2 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Derwent Drawing Pencils 24 color set
Lanaquarelle hot press 140lb/300gsm watercolor paper (smooth surface)
Photo reference by lisilk for Weekend Drawing Event September 25-27, 2009 in All-Media Art Events forum on WetCanvas.com. Someone in the colored pencils forum asked if Derwent Drawing Pencils were any good, so I had to demonstrate them... and the Everglades reference was such a perfect subject for them.

I still want to try them in paint though, watercolor or acrylics or both and possibly in several versions with different keys, high key or low key, high intensity or low intensity, different times of day, different egrets ... there is that unwritten rule that all true Swamp Paintings must include at least one egret or heron. Gators are optional but the egrets or herons are a necessity. I loved the variation in them as much as I loved the subject, so that is an ongoing project now that my swamp scenes are starting to look good.
