Autumn Leaf, Stone, Gall -- the finale!

Autumn: Leaf, Stone, Gall
5" square
Derwent Coloursoft colour pencils on Tobacco colour Canson Mi-Tientes, smooth side. From life.

The last piece for Artsomofo 2009... if I missed a few days, at least I didn't miss the last day before shifting over into novelist-mode for NaNoWriMo -- as always it's been great to see all of your art and if I didn't comment on all of it, know that I at least surfed through and enjoyed every piece. I'll miss y'all till next year! (Though you could always shift to novelwriting too, check the link!)

Beautiful! Love your work. Today is the day!!! Interesting shift of focus!

Oh yeah. Definitely a shift of focus. My first effort fell apart in two hours of what I have to consider warmup writing -- I'm not ready to do that novel, it takes too much research. It may not ever be really my thing unless I collaborate with someone who has a military background. But this one's going to work.

This may seem like a crazy question but where do you store your work for NaNoWriMo - just Microsoft Word and then cut and paste into the message on lj? Or just the word count in lj? and just the word count added at the NaNoWriMo site at the end of the day?

I store my work in my email. At the end of chapters I email the chapter to myself. I write in RTF files using RoughDraft, which you can get free online, though I do have MS Word. Word is too distracting for a rough draft, with its underlining character names and spelling errors and any word not in the dictionary. It pushes me to edit-mode, so I don't process it till it's finished.

I keep it on my hard drive too of course, and also have a USB key with a gig of space that I'll be shoving it onto for backup. I just post the word counts and maybe the occasional teaser in LJ.

Though I suppose I could copy-paste chapters into LJ and then lock the entry to myself only, at least till it's edited. Thanks for mentioning a cool backup idea!
