Arrgh Spam!

For the past several weeks, almost every day I get a notice of a comment on one particular past entry. Just that same entry. It's completely off topic. Some BOT keeps posting variations on an ad for buying brand name purses and wallets. Driving me nuts. I delete it every time and the bot puts up another one a day later.

Anyone else get this problem sometimes? Is there any better way to deal with it than just deleting every time it happens?

Ban him, if he isn't posting anything else. Report him to LJ management.

Thanks. If it was someone with an account, I'd do that. Nonny got hold of me and explained how I could block comments to a specific post, so as they pick on a post I'm disabling comments on it. It's always the same one or two old posts anyway, there's no new comments on them that are real so that turned out the best solution for now.

IF it gets too bad, I'll disable anonymous commenting altogether. But some of my friends forget to log in and just sign the bottom of their comments, so I'd rather not have to do that.

Disable anonymous is really the only way. I have anonymous comments off, and I never get spam. I occassionally get some faux new LJ'er but they're rare.

You can report it even if it's a bot.

Thank you! That's good to know, Nico. I should probably do that and quit having to follow up and do so many deletions.

Okay, I got a Russian language comment with links in it to this post! It was anonymous.

How can I disable anonymous commenting on any of my entries? That would end the problem, I'm not getting them from LJ members.
